CAMPUS DEVELOPMENTS
In terms of Canterbury campus development, view:

Things have moved on since this Estates page was written:
Tyler Court extension work has progressed well and
is on course for September 2004, but the proposed Students
Union retail development is on hold for the moment.
PHONATHON
The latest Annual Fund phonathon raised nearly £28,000 in
pledges over 3 weeks; the autumn 2003 one (five weeks long)
has brought in nearly £50,000 so far. THANK YOU alumni
contributors. We write to everyone before the call,
hopefully avoiding annoying those of you in the middle of
dinner, a favourite TV programme or dealing with children or
work. The responses have overall been very positive - both
in terms of income, and in terms of good communication
between our student callers and the alumni they rang.
Income from the phonathons goes to assist student-centered
projects such as hardship funds, bursaries, equipment for
students with disabilities, campus facilities that would
benefit students, and more. Again, thank you!
2005
40th Anniversary plans include a major reunion on 9-10
April 2005, plus events for all the University's different
constituencies (alumni, staff, students, former staff,
neighbours and the local community, partner
institutions across the Channel and across the
region, honorary graduates, and others) throughout the 2005
calendar year.
The reunion weekend will target especially the alumni who
came to Kent in 1965 and 66, 1975 and 75, 1985 and 86, 1995
and 96, and the students here now. All alumni are welcome,
though; we target to make sure 'classmates'/friends come
together. If you know whom you'd like to see at the
reunion, let them know you're coming so they will to. And
meanwhile, let us know the sorts of events/activities that
you'd like to see in the programme!
COMPUTING
There will also be special department events over that
weekend - Computing will be holding a department/lab-wide
reunion, and we are aware that other deparments are
considering doing so too, so do please keep in touch.
OTHER ALUMNI EVENTS
UKC-Radio is planning a reunion on 15 May weekend - all
interested who are not already on the UKCR alumni list-
serve, please let us know.
There was, in December, an alumni reception in Hong Kong,
and there will be one in Tokyo in April. We are planning a
gathering in New York, and another Alumni in Business event
soon. For more information, please get in touch, and of
course suggestions are always welcome.
Spring has arrived on campus and it's looking lovely!
Best wishes,
Killara
